Costume Designer
Costume designers are people who are involved with the pre-production.
They are responsible for hiring the costumes for the actors and also the extras with a tight budget with tight deadlines they also work on the overall look of the film, The responsibilities that they have consist of breaking down the scripts scene by scene so that they know how many character they need to provide with a costume which also has to be suitable this involves that they must not let colours nor style clashes with each other within the same scene
Costume Designers research in to costume styles, designs. They sometimes talk about the costume and character ideas with performers. They deliver initial ideas to directors about the overall costume vision, character plots and original costume designs, using sketches and fabric samples. They also talk about the colours that are going to be used in the production with the director of photography and the production designer. During the production 
they keep track of the financial records, they record everything they do on a daily basis
Micheal Kaplan is a professional costume designer for was born in Philadelphia, Kaplan had been involved in the Hollywood film industry since the year 1981. Working on films such as Fight club, Se7en, Star Trek & Blade Runner plus many many more.
Lindy Hemming is a costume designer who was born in Wales she won the academy award for costume design. AwardsAcademy Award for Designers Guild Award for Best Costume Design - Fantasy Film and also had Nominations for Academy Award for Costume Design,Saturn Award for Best Costume, Tony Award for Best Costume Design, British Academy Television Craft Award for Best Costume Design, BAFTA Award for Best Costume Design, Phoenix Film Critics Society Award for Best Costume Design, Costume Designers Guild Award for Best Costume Design - Fantasy Film,Costume Designers Guild Award for Best Costume Design - Contemporary Film

She studied at the rotal academy of dramtic art
To become a costume designer, you will need to demonstrate a high level of design skills and practical sewing ability. Many costume designers have a HND, degree or post-graduate qualification in a related subject such as, costume design, fashion.
 
Practical garment production skills can be also be gained via qualifications such as
  • ABC Level 1, 2 or 3 Awards, Certificate or Diploma in Fashion and Textiles
  • City & Guilds Level 1, 2 or 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Creative Techniques in Textiles
  • ABC Level 3 Certificate in Apparel Manufacturing Technology
  • ABC Level 3 Diploma in Handcraft Tailoring
  • NOCN Level 1,2 and 3 Awards, Certificate and Diploma in Skills for the Fashion Industries and Making it in fashion
  • SQA Level 3 SVQ in Kilt Making (SCQF Level 6)



A make-up artist is someone whose job it is on applying makeup as well as prosthetic makeup for fantasy movies in the United States and other parts of the world you are required to have a professional license by an agencies in order to be hired in television and film through MUA.
awards that can be rewarded in this area are Academy Award for the best makeup & hairstyling as well as Award ceremony such as Emmy Awards and the Golden Globes.

Fashion makeup
You would use fashion make up for magazine photography also for fashion runways this technique is also used for television and film projects that could need some experimental themes for the scene such as colour balance
Theatrical makeup
Theatrical make up is used on stage performances and it combined with the stage lighting to show of the actors face so that the audience is able to see from distance the expressions on there face this consist of defining the eyes & lip areas.
Special effects makeup (FX makeup)
Special effects make up is used to make fantasy become real its used to enhance physical features also extras such as Blood, Burns & Cuts

John Chambers (September 12, 1922 – August 25, 2001) he was an award-winning make-up artist and prosthetic makeup expert who became a very known face with in both television and film. He was also on the recieving end of an Academy Honorary Award by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 1968. He is most known for pointy ears of character Spock in TV series Star Trek (1966) He was awarded the CIA's Intelligence Medal of Merit for his involvement in the Canadian Caper, in which six American hostages escaped, during 1979 Iran hostage crisis, which later became the basis of Academy Award for Best Picture-winning film Argo.
Michael George Westmore (born March 22, 1938) Westmore is an American born make-up artist t known for the work in various Star Trek productions, winning nine Emmy Awards, He won the Academy Award for Make-up in 1985 for his work on the film Mask. His career began at Universal Studios in 1961, and spanned four decades, including working for the CIA creating make-up kits for spies overseas.

  • make-up skills including: straight corrective; glamour; period; ageing face, hands and neck; contouring effects; some specialised techniques such as making and applying bald caps; applying and dressing facial hair; creating special effects such as skin diseases, cuts, burns, scars; tattoos and body-painting;

Training and qualificationsAll Make-up Artists should have achieved at least a Level 2 vocational qualification or equivalent in Media Make-up, and should have the equivalent of four years professional experience.  Short course vocational qualifications are also available at levels 2 and 3.  As it is essential that all Make-up Artists keep up to date with new methods and materials further qualifications and additional skills may be acquired by attending specialist, industry approved short courses.  Experience of working in theatre or with prosthetics makers is also advantageous.  At all levels, personality and the right attitude are extremely important.
